Porch Lift for Safety and Independence

Hi, I'm Krista and I'm raising funds for Jeff. Yes, Jeff, my spouse! As many of you know Jeff has Myotonic Dystrophy (DM). The muscle weakness, which is part of DM, is becoming more and more pronounced affecting Jeff's day to day life. Two of Jeff's biggest challenges are going up and down stairs safely and keeping his balance.

Some of you many know how much our home means to Jeff. Before DM limited his abilities, Jeff put his talents as a carpenter and electrician to work renovating and building the addition on our century home. He did pretty much everything and really can't imagine not living here!

So that Jeff can stay at home, we are installing a porch lift and repaving our driveway. Both of which will not only help with Jeff's independence and safety, but they'll also limit Jeff's hospital visits for stitches and suspected fractures and concussions. Our plan is to have both of these projects completed this spring/summer.

We're fortunate to receive some funding from Muscular Dystrophy Canada (amount TBD), however the costs of both the lift and the driveway are more than what we've been able to put aside. Our goal is to raise a portion of the amount needed for the lift.
