Buy Mattresses for Nundu Hospital patients in DRC

Hello, my name is Umbe Bwisengo, and I am the founder of the Association Bwisengo Community for Development. Our mission is to bring hope and opportunities to vulnerable women and children in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

In our work, we focus on empowering young women who have been abandoned by their families due to unplanned pregnancies. Through our programs, we teach these women skills like sewing, provide sewing machines, and offer food and health care support for children at Corrianna College. We also help women pursue higher education—two incredible women have already completed their studies thanks to your support!

During my 2022 visit to the DRC, I delivered reusable pads generously donated by Freedom for Girls through Bridgeman Down Baptist Church in Australia. While there, I had the opportunity to visit Nundu Hospital and meet Dr. Baron Kibukila, who is doing his best to serve his community under incredibly difficult conditions.

What I witnessed at the hospital was heartbreaking. Many of the beds had no mattresses at all, and some had makeshift mattresses made from cardboard. Patients are forced to rest and recover in discomfort and pain due to the lack of proper bedding.

In the DRC, many people already face overwhelming challenges, including poverty, limited access to healthcare, and inadequate infrastructure. For communities relying on Nundu Hospital, these poor conditions make a tough situation even worse. Without basic essentials like mattresses, the hospital cannot provide patients with the dignity and care they need to heal.

Our Goal

We are raising funds to purchase proper mattresses for Nundu Hospital. This simple yet essential improvement will make a huge difference in the lives of patients and the quality of care they receive.
