Shelton & Robin's Home Birth Fund
A message from Shelton and Robin:
If you didn't already hear, we are expecting a baby boy in late September! We are planning a home birth, which is not covered by our insurance. We have decided to raise funds through our network of friends and family to help pay for our midwife's fees, birth supplies, as well as a few necessary items for Shelton's midwifery apprenticeship. Some of the equipment will benefit our home birth as well as the births that Shelton will attend as a student, midwife and doula.
Caring for mothers and babies during pregnancy and birth is Shelton's life's work. Her goal is to complete her studies and earn her license to practice midwifery in California over the next 2 years. After the baby comes, Shelton will continue to apprentice and complete her requirements locally. She is dedicated to making midwifery care accessible to families who desire gentle birth options.
We are grateful for the kindness and generosity of your donation! Please share this page as you like.
About Shelton's Journey into Midwifery:

As a teenager, I recognized my passion for natural childbirth and started attending births as a doula. I have since been on a quest of collecting knowledge, studying herbs, compiling birth stories and traditions and adding to my birthing “tool belt”. At age 19, I gave birth to my son, Shiloh, in my childhood home. In 2002 I received my doula and midwifes assistant training with Leslie Drew, a midwife in Carmel, CA. I went on to college to earn my BA in Community Studies with an emphasis on Women’s’ Health issues from UC Santa Cruz in 2005. In 2009, I attended the Heart and Hands Intensive series and Advanced series for doula certification and midwifery skills with Elisabeth Davis. I trained for childbirth education and breastfeeding counceling with Aviva Institute. I am enrolled in The National Midwifery Institute where I am working on course work and clinical hours to become a midwife liscensed in CA. I served on the board for the California Assosiation of Midwives for 2 years. I am currently attending births as an apprentice midwife and doula. I have current neonatal resuscitation certification through the American Academy of Pediatrics.
