First off I woukd like to start off by saying THANK YOU for stopping in. THIS WAS ONE OF THE HARDEST DECISIONS I'VE HAD TO MAKE in a VERY LONG TIME.
On October 1st en route to Jacksonville, Florida to start the Mushroomhead Mortiis tour the bus overheated and threw a rod. In short the thermostat went out and the engine overheated. We called the insurance company (Thank you Ameer) and after a few hours we were towed to the nearest town and mechanic where we slept til morning until the shop opened. Because of time and the fact that this place is in a town of few businesses we were in a bind from get go. The decision had to be made to leave the bus behind to be fixed. I was persuaded to buy a brand new engine because the guy didn't think he could find a engine in time for me to pick up the bus in a few weeks mid tour outside of Austin.
And so the story begins....
The shop was nice enough to offer us a ride from a friend who actually worked at a radio station (which I did an interview for while we waited on our rental ) So we got a ride 45 minutes to the nearest Enterprise then drove 2 hours to Austin where we caught a flight to Orlando got a cab to Bandago where we rented a van and trailer and drove to Jacksonville in time for load in and first show... yeah. Phew, typing it makes me tired.
Anyway .. since then we been hauling ass living in the van, sleeping in Walmart parking lots and playing shows with an occasional room in between. Basically the tour depleted all the income and bank account, savings etc.
A few days ago the mechanic called and said GOOD NEWS! Engine is great! TRANSMISSION is GONE. The transmission was fairly new however the warranty expired in April. After a few conversations with mechanic friends of ours (THANK YOU GEORGE) We came to conclusion A. They are just fucking us or B. The tow truck driver towed the bus 40 minutes without removing the drive shaft and fried the transmission. So here we are. In 6 days the tour ends and the trek needs to begin BACK to Junction Tx to recover the bus and get it home in time for the next few tours. Basically I need to fly from Cleveland (Mortiis got my flight cause they rule) back to Austin. .rent a car drive to the Enterprise and be picked up and driven 40 minutes to the bus where HOPEFULLY it's FINISHED and all I have to do is drive back to LA ALONE 23 hours home which costs about 700$ in gas alone.
We really REALLY NEED ANY HELP. Even positive thoughts our way.
