Jeff's Medical Expenses

Jeff Bennett is an amazing 49 year-old husband, father, and teacher. He and his wife raised four boys to appreciate music, sports, and community service activities. Two of the boys have participated in missions in low-income cities. The boys grew up while Jeff finished his PhD in Educational Leadership at Ohio State University and then earned tenure at the University of Arizona. Yet Jeff always made time for his family.
Just before Jeff learned that he earned tenure in the spring of 2014, he was diagnosed with a rare cancerous sarcoma in his leg. Doctors were able to treat the sarcoma with several rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. Throughout the very challenging cancer treatments, Jeff continued to work with a modified schedule at the university. With student loans and a family to support, Jeff could not afford to spend all of his sick leave. Jeff never complained, and he worked tirelessly (often with a great deal of pain) to help his students achieve their goals.
This spring, Jeff learned the cancer had reoccurred, this time in his lung and his brain. Chemotherapy has not been successful. Doctors have identified new treatment options; however, the treatments are not covered by insurance. The treatments cost $11,000. Jeff’s friends and family are not giving up hope, and that’s why we are setting up this fundraiser to help with medical costs. Time is not on Jeff’s side so we need to raise funds as quickly as possible. Please donate what you can. Thank you.
