99 year old WW2 Veteran needs help

           99 YEAR OLD WORLD WAR 2 VETERAN NEEDS HELP




 Hi everyone. I'd like you to meet my dad, Mr. Vincent Pica. Vincent is a 99 year old veteran of World War Two. Not only did he serve his country, but he and my mom raised 5 children. He is not only a father, but a grandfather AND great -grandfather.

 Vincent has been living at a senior living facility here in Connecticut for the last 11 years at a place he has come to consider his home. He has managed for most of that time to be completely self sufficient. Unfortunately, the last few months have not been kind. Due to a series of events including multiple falls and trips to the hospital he has become severely incapacitated and now needs round the clock care. It's sad for us here to see a once robust individual brought to his current state. Long before this occurred we were already researching possible future living arrangements for my dad but now things have become desperate due to his current needs.

 Between Social Security and a modest pension, Vincent is able to pay his rent and basic bills but the cost of having 24 hour care is astronomical and he has exhausted his savings and then some.  

 We are at a point where it has become impossible to maintain his current care. The last few months have taken a huge toll on us mentally, physically and financially. Mr. Pica needs help with all the aspects of living that most of us take for granted, and it would mean the world to us and him to be able to keep the beloved aides that he has come to rely on completely. The money we are raising will be used SOLEY for his personal care and maintaining his current health status while we co-ordinate VA, State and local agencies to cover these expenses. However, until then, the bills keep coming in.

 This situation has now become urgent, as the costs for his home care have to be paid on a weekly basis. We now have no way of paying these bills, the end result being the cancellation of his daily help which he cannot live without.

The decision to start this gofundme was difficult. We wish there had been another way to cover these costs but we have reached the end of our current ability to keep up. Any contributions would be appreciated beyond what a simple thank you could convey. We would be very grateful to be able to maintain the quality of our dad's life for whatever time he has left.
