Nteteka's fundraising for Bwetu Village Malawi, Christmas24
Donation protected
This year, the Nteteka family would love to spread some Christmas cheer to the families in need in Bwetu Village, Malawi.
We have decided that this year, we will travel and spend Christmas away from the bright lights in the UK and immerse ourselves in a Christmas of giving in Malawi with Mau's parents. A very different Christmas for us all and one we can't wait to experience!
Just over 4 years ago, we visited the small village of Bwetu in Chitukula, around 20 minutes from where Mau's parents live in Lumbadzi Lilongwe. (See the cover photo of the GOFUNDME page of Umi, aged 3, making friends with two children in the village!)
Here, we found some beautiful but desperately low-income families and many children whom we would love to revisit and help bring a little seasonal cheer this year!
In light of this, we are calling on all of our wonderful friends, family, and lovely colleagues to kindly ask for support by way of any monetary donations possible. However big or small, we appreciate your support. Ultimately, the more funds we are able to raise, the more families we can reach/help across the village!
To help put things into context a little; in Malawi, a bag of maize flour costs roughly '45,000 Malawi Kwacha (= £15). This would be a main/staple food provision and this 1 bag would supply a small family of 3 for approximately two months.
In addition to maize, we are hoping to fund additional food provisions, such as soya pieces and toiletry packages. Finally, we are going to put together around 60 small Christmas gift/goodie bags to distribute to children at a cost of £3 per gift bag.
We will be documenting our journey and will be excited to share our video and photos upon our return. We will show you exactly where your donations have been made and how they have helped the families we have met.
In one of the poorest little pockets of the world, every penny counts, and we are so grateful for any contributions you are able to make.
We would be delighted to answer any questions on this or hear from anyone who would like further information.
Thank you kindly in advance,
Mau & Rosie x
