It takes an island: Let's help Biff & Mary Rebuild
On Thursday, May 27, a typical pre- Memorial Day weekend activity found Biff Herbert tidying up Mary's & his home for weekend house guests. Our Maine born and raised, beloved island friends lost their primary residence, including all of its
contents, boat, and car to fire. Biff suffered minor burns escaping, and fortunately Mary was not inside at the time. Their forever multi-generational home is gone.
As friends who care deeply for this family, we recognize Mary's 48 years of service as a nurse at Maine Medical Center and Biff's numerous years at LL Bean, and the City of Portland. We appreciate their years of island kindness, lending a quiet, private hand to so many of us, in our times of need. This is our chance to support them in their time of need.
We are raising funds to help get them get started rebuilding and offset some of the expenses they are going to incur. We hope to alleviate some of the stress they will face as they begin to rebuild. We seek to get them resettled as soon as possible.
Thank you for any donation. They appreciate it from the bottom of their hearts.
