Give Randi «Saxine» a chance to live

Donation protected

Give Randi «Saxine» the gift of life. She has severe neck injuries and needs extensive surgory abroad to stop worsening of her condition, and possibly fatal outcome. Help Randi be a mom again.

This fundraiser is held by Randi and her friends and family

The cost of surgory is estimated to between 1.000.000 - 1.4000.000,- kroner (about 100.000-150.000 dollars) depending on the severity of her injury.
We will find out after some testing and consultation to plan the surgory in Spain this spring. Our first goal is therefor 40.000,- kroner (about 4500 dollars) to cover the expence of this.

There have been some questions about documentation to validate that this is a legit need. We are adding the evaluation documents from Dr Gilete in the bottom for anyone interested in proof.

We also made a facebook site where you can get it touch and follow Randis journey. Here we will post budget and recipets of all expences:

The story:

Randi has always been an energetic and social person despite the fact that her illness gave her limitations from childhood.

She visited specialist after specialist, and after 10 years she was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. By then she had been given a number of wrong diagnoses and tried everything to prevent deterioration of health.

In the fall of 2018, she was on one of many rehabilitation stays to try to build up and maybe eventually get back to work. This stay turned out to make everything much worse.

Over the next few months she gradually became worse, she was referred to MRI but there were no findings. No explanation for the severe deterioration. We decided to go to London on a upright MRI after being adviced by others in similar situation.

The investigation there showed that she has a very unstable neck, the neck partially dislocates when she turns her head, and she has an indication of compression of the brain stem. This gives a complex and comprehensive picture of illness, and now leads to Randi being almost completely bedridden. She spends 22 hours a day lying flat, and can no longer be particularly present for her 2 children of 3 years and 5 years. She has been given home service to help her with basic needs such as showering, dressing and arranging food. Only exceptionally does she manage to be out of the house or participate in something social, then with the help of neck collar and wheelchair.

After coming home from London, she was referred to a neurosurgeon in the hope that they could help her to a better life. It was going to turn out to be a fight. Despite the fact that there is research on this internationally and that there is an approved ICD code on the diagnosis, the doctors in Norway do not recognize this problem. After some searching on the internet we find out that we are not alone. Neck and jaw injuries The National Association knows of many who experience the same, and are rejected in the Norwegian Healthcare system based on neck injuries to varying degrees. The doctors have neither the knowledge nor the will to help this patient group. The attitude is that what we cannot explain does not exist or is to be explained as other illness with none treatable options.

ESA is now suing Norway for breach of EØS laws because Norway denies patients hospital treatment abroad.

Randi has given up getting help in Norway, we have already waited 6 months for evaluation by 2 neuro surgeons, and during this time the situation have escalated further. She now has unspecified seizures, where she gets distant, has difficulty talking, trembling and getting twitches (to name a few of the symptoms) the doctors can't explain this either. Now we need help. The longer it goes, the greater the likelihood of permanent injury like paralization or, at worst, fatal outcome.

We have been in contact with a neurosurgeon in Spain who is dealing specifically with this problem, and he could tell that this type of seizure could occur in severe and advanced injuries, and asked Randi to come down quickly for further investigation and consultation to plan surgory.

This will cost in excess of NOK 1 million, with examinations, surgory, follow-up, stays and insurance.

We do not get a loan from the bank as Randi is left without income pending disability and must therefore swallow the pride and ask for help from far and near.

Every penny counts, and if you do not have the opportunity to contribute, we will be eternally grateful to you for sharing our cause.
