Dear Music Lovers, and Students of History and Opera.
RenChorNY has a history of Monteverdi Orfeo (1607) workshops (3) since 2005.
We are honored to, with noted Specialists from Italy and New York, take this to the wider public. This entails renting rehearsal and Concert venues, Instrumentalists and Soloists as well as a 20 +voice choir; advertising and publicity are expensive PLEASE COME and also DONATE here.
[-You can make a difference by donating today to Renaissance Chorus Association. EIN:90-0435271.]
In complete Performance, we present the First GREAT Opera.
LOVE seeking to overcome death, from the Plato telling via Striggio's text, to Monteverdi's sublime music will be recreated by the twenty voices of RenChorNY commenting on Orpheus and Euridice, their wedding joy, while the principals describe their horror at the death of the bride, encourage- or block- Orpheus in his quest to overcome fate, and then accede, as the Gods allow, to it.
Here our Orpheus is berating/pleading with the fates to allow his cause:
Again, Artists from Italy and New York with specialized early instrumentalists will be led by Director Richard Porterfield.
PERFORMANCE will be Saturday June 28, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 164 West 100 St, Manhattan at 7pm.
Donations from admissions will be sent to this official Los Angeles Government site.
