Help bring Evelyn home
Donation protected
My name is Andrea, and I am fundraising for my cousin Rafael and his wife Evelyn.
Update: Sadly, while I was preparing this fundraiser page, Evelyn passed away. We are heartbroken and can not process everything that has happened in such a short period. We are only grateful that Rafael and Evelyn had the beauty of Saturday, where they both reaffirmed their love for each other. We have beautiful pictures and memories that will be cherished forever. We now need support Rafael and the 2 beautiful girls she left behind while bringing her home and making arrangements. Please consider donating.
This is their story....
Rafael and Evelyn fell in love, married in a civil ceremony and were blessed with Evelyn's pregnancy shortly after they wed in 2019. Evelyn's pregnancy course was high risk, and after giving birth to their beautiful, healthy baby girl Emily, Evelyn suffered a life-threatening and life-altering stroke. She was not expected to survive, but against all odds, she did. She had been regaining her strength and motor functions and was doing well.
Rafael surprised Evelyn, the love of his life, with a trip to the Dominican Republic for her 40th birthday. While on this vacation and considering all they had gone through, he chose to surprise her this past Saturday, December 10th, by renewing his vows and his commitment to her in sickness and health. It was such a beautiful surprise. She had no idea what was happening up until minutes before. She was glowing with beauty and happiness and felt somewhat back to normal.
Sadly, the next day, she did not feel well and on Tuesday, she was brought to the emergency room missing their flight to return home. They urgently rushed her to a major medical center in Santo Domingo where she is currently.
She has deteriorated quickly and has suffered another stroke. She has been put on life support, and her status is grave. The hospital requires large sums of money to maintain her care. If she pulls through this, she will need medical transportation back to the USA, and we have no idea what that will cost.
It is unimaginable to me that this photo was taken Saturday, and the very next day, everything took a terrible turn.
Please consider helping with any amount you can to maintain Evelyn's care and hopefully bring her home.
Thank you
