Jackie's Study Abroad to Japan!

Hello, my name is Jackie! I am a college student attending Arizona State University, with a major in Digital Culture (similar to computer programming). With this degree, I plan to make a career in video game development.
This leads me to bring up that I have always wanted to go to Japan. Blame it on too much anime and video games if you want, but nonetheless it’s always been a dream of mine. When I was taking classes last semester, one of my professors mentioned a study abroad trip, and that got me researching. I mean, what better way is there to go travel than to take a study abroad program? With it, I could go to Japan and earn college credit at the same time. It sounded perfect! After some digging, I found a program to go to Japan this summer, summer 2016. The program lasts for two weeks, and takes place mostly at Waseda University in Tokyo. It would be an amazing experience and opportunity to go there and learn what I can to both further my college degree as well as fulfill a long time dream.
So, a little more about the program itself: it takes place from May 13th to May 29th. The main content of the program is to teach students how to develop ideas and create them as a Serious Game. What exactly is a Serious Game? Glad you asked! A Serious Game is a game that has a specific purpose other than entertainment. Serious games can be used in many different fields, and during the trip we will be focusing on creating a Serious Game to make simulations. One example would be making a traffic simulation. Through this program, I will learn how to create a Serious Game and be able to use what I learn from the program in my future career.
Of course, like any other college student, I am not exactly living life large. It can be hard to manage a full time course load along with enough work hours to sustain yourself. As such, I need some help. The cost of the program is, as study abroad programs usually are, pricey. The amount that I am asking for will help pay for the airfare to Japan. These fees are due in late May, and any amount will help! Thank you!
