The Burke Family

My name is Colette Martin and I’m creating this gofund me account for a couple that I am very blessed to call my friends: Steven and Ashley Burke. Our daughters Whitney and Katie met in school in kindergarten and Ashley soon became a wonderful friend of mine. Steven and Ashley have 4 children. In July 2021, Steven was diagnosed with Follicular Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. With the first chemo treatment he had bad reactions to it, but it did put him into remission for 6 months, but the cancer came back in July of 2022. He began another round of chemo at the Mayo Clinic in Florida and was traveling back and forth between there and their home in Maryland. The scan in October 2022 after this round of chemo showed that the cancer grew and spread three times the size it was before the chemo. He then received a stem cell transplant and the scan after in April of 2023 showed he was in remission again, however in the summer of 2023, his symptoms were back and confirmed in September that the cancer was back. He is back to square one with one more option. He’s being treated with chemo and in the process of being scheduled for a bone marrow transplant. The financial burden alone is enough for one family with any medical need. Steven is a man who has worked as hard as he can and for as long as he can to provide for his family. He will be traveling to Florida to the Mayo Clinic in the next couple of weeks for his scan to see if the chemo is helping and then will be scheduled for the bone marrow transplant. Ashley and the kids will be traveling back and forth as Ashley is trying to run their small business to help with finances. She will have to shut the business down to be down in Florida with him during and after the transplant. Their bills are accumulating and as this is a terrifying time for any person and family, and the last thing Steven and Ashley should have to worry about is money.
