Basil's Leg Surgeries
Donation protected
This is a campaign to help pay for Basil's leg surgeries. Basil is a 6lb chihuahua/pomerian mix that we love dearly . She is a very important member of our big family and brings happiness and love to our lives each day.
Last night around 11 pm I let Basil out in our front yard one last time before bed. She unfortunately spotted a huge raccoon and attempted to chase it away. They ran into the bushes where basil was grabbed and bitten by the raccoon. It took hitting it with a stick several times before it let go of her. She was really no match for it, but her dog instincts made her protect me and chase it away.
When we saw the condition that Basil was in we rushed her to the emergency vet closest to our house. It turns out that Basil has a fracture on the heel of her right leg and bite wounds (which is the better of her injuries). Her left leg was dislocated at the ankle, has severe ligament damage, multiple fractures and air pocketing from bite wounds. There is the possibility that her left leg is too damaged to repair fully which would result in having to fuse the joints. We could have it amputated fully, or for more money have it amputed at the ankle with a protestic. We have already paid $1800 and the cost of her surgeries we will be at least $8000. We have a few days to decide what surgeries to have and need to come up with the money before that.
This has all happened very fast and is really stressful. If you know Basil or have someone like her in your life then I'm sure you understand how we are feeling. I have to help my little girl get better and need help getting there. Thank you so much for listening, and to anyone that contributes to her fund, please know how grateful or family is.
