Give Back for Zack
#TeamZack
Sixteen-year-old Zack Kurtz is the definition of a hero, courageously fighting to recover from severe pan-ulcerative colitis. After a 31-day hospital stay for a
colectomy, Zack continues to battle debilitating complications like pneumonia, sepsis, abdominal abscesses, and neuropathy. While Zack and his family are very grateful for the thoughts and prayers for him from around the world, they could use your financial
support as well. Your generous contributions will help with mounting medical bills and alleviate some of the stress his family is enduring.
More of Zack’s story:
Zack is an ordinary, active fifteen-year-old who loves his family, soccer, water sports, and Star Wars, but in the spring of 2015 he began having severe intestinal issues. Near the end of summer vacation Zack was diagnosed with pan-ulcerative colitis, a severe form of the disease that affects the entire colon. Unfortunately, insurance denied Zack the drug treatment of choice. He was prescribed other medicines to hopefully keep his symptoms at bay so he could return to school. Many days, Zack left school early due to the pain associated with severe colitis, and he became concerned about falling behind. His condition further deteriorated and more testing showed that his colon would have to be removed. Zack spent Christmas in the pediatric ICU of a Nashville hospital, having four abdominal surgeries and enduring many setbacks and complications. He lost all blood pressure during his second surgery to clear a septic infection from his body, but battled back only to endure two additional surgeries. After 31 days, Zack went home for 24 hours only to have further complications send him back to the hospital where he remains today. Please, won’t you consider donating help with Zack’s recovery? All funds donated will be used solely for medical bills. Zack and his family thank you from the very bottom of their hearts for your generous contributions.
