Justice for Brielle

As some of you may know, on May 1st I came home from work ( I worked fulltime to single handedly support a family of 7) to every parents worst nightmare, I came home to my 3 month old baby cold and unresponsive. I called for emergency services and my daughter was transported to Maine Medical. The first time I knew my baby was still alive is when in the ambulance they used what's referred to as an 'IO' (which is literally a drill that goes right through bone to gain I.V access when they can't successfully place a regular I.V) and she SCREAMED on pain.. When we got to the hospital we were rushed into a room with too many doctors and nurses to count where I was told they needed to rush her in for emergency brain surgery and preparing me for the worst case scenario. The surgery took about 4 hours which seemed like eternity.

Due to "protocol" I wasn't allowed to see my daughter until hours after her surgery and even then under constant supervision and wasn't allowed to talk to my 4 other children for days after this happened while they were investigating. I found out after a day or two that her injury was caused by being shaken with EXTREME force and had no outer injuries but the right side of her brain was as a doctor said "A mess

I stayed by her side the entire time she was at the hospital and would hum and sing to her while she was on life support and told her to "keep fighting" and she could "just meet me as far as you can go and I'll meet you the rest of the way and fight with you." It took 16 days in the hospital but she overcame so many things the doctors thought she wouldn't and just like I told the pics and nurses there we were going to leave with no tubes and we did! I taught her how to drink from. a bottle again and she was just so strong through everything and had so much fight in her! I can't even begin to explain how proud of her I am. I truly thank everyond that helped support me when this first happened, but we are SO far from this being over if ever. She has permanent damage such as needing to be medicated twice daily for seizures, cerebral palsey and with the extent of damage done as she grows we will continue to see more and more effects of this but we cant predict exactly what and how bad it will be..

Her BIOLOGICAL father was arrested on the 3rd and charged with a class A felony Aggravated assault on an infant. He is currently in jail with a 50k cash bail which his mother is trying to come up with to get him out until trial. She raised $5000 to try to help get her monster of a son bailed out while Brielle and the rest of my family live in a shelter mixed with active addicts. I can no longer as I have such severe PTSD from everything I've witnessed Brielle go through and I hope NOONE EVER has to witness those kids of things with their children. I lost everything. I was working so hard to buy land in Maine and continue my dream to homestead with my family there, and one what seemed like a normal day completely changed my entire life..

I NEED help now more than ever! Brielle and I have so many appointments now to go to and we don't have transportation.. We need a van with the size of my family and I am trying to work on that as well as a long list of other things such as housing and paying for medical bills our insurance does not cover. New Hampshire just doesn't have enough help or funding to provide what a family in my situation needs. We are NOT here on our own choice. I worked hard and was proud to support my family. I have always been one to be the support and try to be the kindness I'd like to see in the world. I'm also in the process of adopting my nephew I've been raising for 4 years and now that my little sister has recently passed adoption is the only thing that make sense but that costs money as well unfortunately.

I have appeared on the channel 8 news in Maine to start to speak out and continue to advocate and be the voice my daughter needs right now. I plan on raising my voice to anyone that will hear it and I want to make this horrible and traumatic experience not for nothing! I've been through so much in my life before this that at this point I believe I can help people and by doing that it mentally helps me as well.
