Justice for Jax

On November 23, 2021, my friend Blossom deBruin lost her greatest companion in life. While playing at the Sutherland dog park in Saskatoon, Jax was attacked by two large bully breed type dogs. One of the two dogs ripped open Jax's abdomen, causing fatal injury.
Blossom, who is finishing her final few weeks at the Univerisity of Saskatoon to become a veterinarian, rushed Jax to the hospital with a 50% chance of survival. Despite the best efforts of Blossom's friends, colleagues, and teachers at the hospital, the injuries sustained were fatal.
I met Blossom in 2017 while we were both completing our undergraduate degrees in BC. We became fast friends in our time at school together and have only grown closer with time. Blossom has completed both undergraduate and veterinary degrees with very little assistance, regularly putting in 80+ hours of effort every week and going days without sleep to fund her dream of becoming a veterinarian. In fact, I really can't think of anyone in my life that has the kind of drive that Blossom does. She continues to push though immense challenges in the most difficult of circumstances and Jax has been by her side despite all of life's changes.
As Blossom nears the completion of her degree in veterinary medicine and is working harder than ever to study for the NAVLE, the last thing that should be on her mind is a looming vet bill. I hope that you will join me in supporting her as she grieves the loss of an irreplaceable friend.
Blossom is one of the few people who I can always trust to have my back, now it is my turn to have hers.
If you have witnessed the attack or know someone who did, to please consider calling animal control with case number 21-150-449 and giving a witness statement. Blossom will be pressing charges to make sure these dogs are never allowed in an off leash park again. Any witness statements will help with the case!
Update: The first $5000 will go towards covering the cost of Jax's emergency surgery. Any additional funds will be put towards legal fees. If Blossom receives more than enough money to cover her costs or recieves payment through legal action, funds will be donated to the Good Samaritan Fund at the WCVM in Jax's honor.
