Simply Saving Sylvia!
My name is Yolanda Russell Gurley and I am starting a campaign titled "Simply Saving Sylvia". Sylvia is one of my best friends. We are both cosmetologist and met over 20+ years ago. To say that we've been through many battles together would be a gross understatement but, we have always supported one another.
Right now, Sylvia is in the battle of her life! Last month, while on a cruise vacation with her husband, Brad; Sylvia became gravely ill. She was immediately Medevac'd from the cruise ship to a hospital in Aruba. The Aruban doctors were limited in the care they could offer because it was discovered that Sylvia was in Stage IV liver failure. It was paramount that she be Medevac'd back to the states for treatment in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The physicians in Ft. Lauderdale stabilized Sylvia with the intent to get her to Virginia Commonwealth University's Medical Center (VCU) in Richmond, Virginia. Three days later Sylvia and Brad were presented with the news that she would need a liver transplant and she would need it ASAP! She would immediately undergo a battery of tests and examinations to clear her for placement on the transplant list for a liver. On March 16, Sylvia received the call that she had made it onto the liver transplant list. The very next day Sylvia received the call she had been desperately waiting for; there was a liver for her, and she had 6 hours to get to VCU. Saturday morning Sylvia arrived at VCU and the transplant team immediately began prepping her for surgery. Sunday morning at 11:30am Sylvia underwent an 8 hour transplant surgery and it was a success!!! Praise God from whom ALL BLESSINGS flow!!!
God truly answers prayers! Sylvia now has a long road to recovery ahead of her with her faithful husband Brad by her side and THEY NEED YOUR HELP! Sylvia's post-op and recovery will require her to remain in VCU and will include continued medical bills, anti-viral and anti-rejection medications on top of the actual cost of the transplant surgery. Your donations will help tremendously with expenses that are not covered by her insurance i.e lodging, food, transportation and miscellaneous expenses for her husband who will stay by her side in Richmond while also maintaining their home in Virginia Beach. PLEASE donate so that Sylvia and Brad can focus on her recovery without the burden of medical cost and expenses.
