Lets help Amy

Donation protected
Hi, I am Amy's sister & I am sharing her story with you all in hopes you can help her in any possible way.

Paul (Amy's husband) found her early Tuesday morning very disorientated, vomiting and not very responsive. Amy was brought to Regions hospital & listed in critical condition. A spinal tap was attempted but even with some sedation she was much too feisty for that. Amy had to be fully sedated and intubated for the spinal tap. After a day they were able to diagnose her with streptococcal pneumonia meningitis which is a serious bacterial infection of the membranes that cover your spinal cord and brain. It’s caused by a common bacteria that many people have in their bodies, but in some people, it becomes meningitis. It is believed Amy had a sinus infection and this is what happened!

The breathing tube was removed and they started antibiotics for the infection. She has had two MRIs; both showed no signs of bleeding around the brain. It seems she is improving each day but very slowly. At this time, they are unsure if the infection will have any permanent effects on her, she is much too confused to be able to help us figure that out right now.. She was more alert today, it fades fast but we do try and ask her some questions, sometimes she answers and sometimes she is unable to. Speech is difficult, they decided she wasn't well enough today to be able to have ice chips, they will assess her Saturday, if they feel it is unsafe for anything by mouth, they will insert a feeding tube until she is able to take liquids or food by mouth.

Unfortunately, Amy has NO health insurance to cover any of these costs, although it is unknown the prognosis it does appear she will not be able to return to working for a long time (if ever). Amy & Paul have been talking about moving and for various reasons they will need to do that sooner than later, it would be in Amy's best interest for her health to not return to their current residence.

All money donated to Amy will assist in her recovery by helping to cover expenses while she is out of work. For Amy & Paul to lose an entire person's income will be very difficult & I am personally asking if you are able to please help my sister! You may or may not know her but if you do, then you know she is a great person with a huge heart, she has been through (and beat) cancer as a teenager & has had some health problems from then on. She has never really been able to "catch a break" and deserves one more than anyone I know. If you are unable to help, please keep her in your prayers and share this with your family, friends, co-workers or anyone who would be willing to make life just a bit easier for Amy. We greatly appreciate all the support, kind words and prayers and please keep them coming. I will be sure to add updates as the days go on. Thanks, peace and love to you all.
