My Transition Journey

Hello, my name is Lucy. I'm a trans woman living in the UK, currently in the middle of my transition. It's felt slow, but a lot of progress has been made and I'm continuing to push on.

I started my transition in September, 2020. It was a huge relief to start telling those close to me, to stop living a lie and finally make my dreams and wishes come true. 

I've been discussing with NHS "medical professionals" but they just do not understand my position, nor am I getting the proper care or treatment I desperately need. Whereas private doctors highly trained in trans healthcare do understand and have been super professional and helpful throughout.

I'm grateful for the people who have stayed by my side and supported me throughout the beginning of my transition. Transitioning has genuinely saved my life and I know I'll still have you all by my side at the end. I really struggled before, but it's easier to cope with my demons having your support.

 

My transition is essential because it's about being true to who I am and affirming myself. I'm growing into my skin and blossoming into the woman I am. As a result of my transition, I have a lot more confidence in myself and my anxiety no longer controls my life.

I have been on HRT since December 19th 2020, since then everything feels like it's slowed right down, but I have reached my 2 year milestone and realised the ball has started rolling again.

As I am going private for most treatments, these funds, absolutely every penny, will go towards hormones, future consultations, updating personal documentation, surgeries and help cover travel to and from GIC's and hospitals.

I'm working full-time as a barista, I try to work as many hours as I can mentally take on, but looking on to what my future holds, helps keep me going.
