Arthur before Krabbe (click to see the video)
In the blink of an eye, 21-month-old Arthur's family's world turned upside down. The vibrant child we knew suddenly lost all motor ability, and was diagnosed with Krabbe disease. Our hearts shattered as Arthur's family received the devastating news – no cure, just a bleak outlook. But amidst the darkness, they clung to hope and embraced an extraordinary decision.
Arthur's family, fueled by love and sheer determination, embarked on a desperate journey to save their beloved son, leaving behind their precious daughters to be cared for by their grandparents.
After enduring ten grueling days of chemotherapy, Arthur received a life-saving stem cell transplant on June 2nd. We anxiously await the moment his new cells graft and he begins to heal. He is expected to remain in Pittsburgh's children's hospital for at least 4 months, putting his father out of work for a minimum of 5 months.
When Arthur is released from care and prepares to return home, his family confronts a daunting challenge. They must transform their home into a haven of accessibility, a place where Arthur can find solace and thrive. Wheelchair ramps, modified vehicles, and a myriad of specialized equipment await them on this path of resilience.
This is where your compassion can shine through. Your support can make a profound difference in Arthur's life. Through this heartfelt plea, we humbly ask for your generosity. Let us rally together, to raise the funds needed for home modifications and the essential equipment that will nurture Arthur's continued growth.
Every donation, no matter the size, helps Arthur get closer to the life he truly deserves.
