Bringing Barry Home

Barry (Bear) Morris, Christ follower, husband, father, grandfather, musician, sound technician, mechanic, and friend.

Many of us know “Bear” in one or more of these capacities. He has blessed so many churches, businesses and individuals in the Sault and Algoma Region for over 50 years. Planning and participating in many Praise Celebrations, Praise in the Park, helping with the sound system at the Roberta Bonder pavilion, and with the installation of the cross at St. Basil school on the hill. He has blessed this community in too many ways to count or mention here.

Barry’s life changed dramatically on April 8, 2024. Barry suffered an extremely debilitating stroke. He remains in hospital doing physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.

He is making strides in all his therapies and is hoping to be able to return home mid-July.

When the stroke occurred, his family decided that the home space was going to need to be renovated for Barry to be able to come home, to walk around with his walker, make meals, use the restroom and function as normally as possible.

Funds are needed for new front and side entrance renovations, widening of pathways outside as well as inside the home, the addition of handrails and grab bars, a walk-in type shower on the main level and many other things that quickly add up.

As most of us know, many seniors are living at or below the poverty line in Canada with only CPP and OAS to support them. Renovations on a home are nearly impossible to accomplish without funds and help from friends, family and community.

We are asking for your help with the funds to be able to do the renovations needed so Bear can come home to a functional house. Let’s work together so that Bear can come home! It is most appreciated, and we humbly thank you for your support.
