Cabanero Family- precious time with Aiyana

The day doctors told Andrea and Joel that their 14yr old daughter Aiyana had soft tissue sarcoma, otherwise known as stage 4 lung cancer (Sarcoma is a form of cancer that starts in soft tissue and then invades body structures like muscle, bone and fat).
This was the day their world as they knew it was turned upside down and would never be the same.
Treatment began immediately and after many rounds of chemotherapy Aiyana underwent major surgery to remove as much of the tumour and cancer cells in her lungs, diaphragm and ribs.
It took Aiyana a while to get the strength back to do another couple rounds of chemo and then finally 30 days of radiation.
Through all this our beautiful Aiyana stayed strong.
Surrounded by love, with all her friends and family. They cried together, laughed with each other, cut their hair in support of Aiyana and did countless sessions of wacky makeovers and turned that hospital into a proper teen hangout.
The family was starting to breath again but after only a short time Aiyana got sick again, with the cancer now spreading to her chest wall, lungs and her shoulder.
The family were advised that there were no more treatments available to treat Aiyana’s cancer.
Aiyana is a sibling of 5, she has 3 sisters and a brother. Her mother, Andrea is by her bedside constantly while her father, Joel is holding it all together at home. Because of this Joel is currently on unpaid leave. Bills still need to be paid, kids still need to eat, washing, driving, activities, homework, help with assessments, the emotional wellbeing of the siblings at home to support.
Prayers and thoughts will forever be something that the family cherishes. But
during such a hard time, we want to be able to do something to help alleviate some of their stress. They have always been a family willing and ready to help anyone who needed help so please join us in helping this beautiful family.
We wish there was a cure, we wish we could just pause the world and give them all the time they wanted with their beautiful Aiyana.
