Cabarrus Tech VEX Robotics

The Cabarrus Early College of Technology is an early college program that opened in 2016. Our students begin as ninth graders and are dual enrolled in high school as well as community college. They have the opportunity to earn both their high school diploma and an associate degree within four years. We are approximately one-third first generation college students and our students come from diverse cultural, religious and academic backgrounds.  Our demographics are 42% free/reduced lunch and 49% minority.

As the school of technology, we are eager to provide opportunities for all of our students in various STEM fields. We have organized a VEX Robotics program at our school, and currently have two teams of students. These students come in before and after school, and also giving up their lunch breaks to research, build and program robots.  We began our program in the fall of 2017. Over the last two years, we have attended two regional competitions each year, and scored well enough to qualify for the state championship during both of those years. Our students are naturally interested in STEM related activities and participation in VEX helps to nurture this natural curiosity.

Our anticipated annual budget is $4,200.
VRC Registration (2 teams): $300
VRC Tournament Registration: $900
Miscellaneous Parts (motors, wheels, etc.): $1500
Team Uniforms: $500
Travel: $1000
