Olivier Rebbot Documentary Fund

Forty years ago my brother Olivier Rebbot died after being shot in El Salvador while on assignment for Newsweek magazine. He was 31. 
 
A feature documentary about his life, "The Road to Gotera", has been in the works since 2010. Directed by Jacques Menasche, it is now nearly complete, but needs finishing funds for post-production and to license archival news footage.
 
I’ve created the "Olivier Rebbot Documentary Fund" to help make this happen. 
 
In an era before local journalists and photographers were being hired to bring us the news — an advance for which I am personally glad — Olivier and a small group of globe-trotting photojournalists provided nearly all the world’s news photography. Many of them — David Burnett, Patrick Chauvel, Raymond Depardon, Benoit Gysemberg and Susan Meiselas — appear in this film.  In the end, it is their story as well as his.

Il y a 40 ans, mon frère Olivier Rebbot est décédé après avoir été abattu au Salvador alors qu'il était en mission pour le magazine Newsweek.  Il avait 31 ans.
 
Un long métrage documentaire sur sa vie, "The Road to Gotera", est en préparation depuis 2010. Réalisé par Jacques Menasche, il est maintenant presque terminé, mais a besoin de fonds supplémentaires pour la post-production et obtenir les droits des archives des images d'actualité.
 
J'ai créé le "Fonds documentaire Olivier Rebbot" pour contribuer à la réalisation de cet objectif.
 
À une époque où les journalistes et les photographes locaux n'étaient pas encore engagés pour nous rapporter les nouvelles - un progrès dont je me réjouis personnellement - Olivier et un petit groupe de photojournalistes globe-trotters ont fourni presque toutes les photographies d'actualité du monde. Plusieurs d'entre eux - David Burnett, Patrick Chauvel, Raymond Depardon, Benoit Gysemberg et Susan Meiselas - apparaissent dans ce film.  En fin de compte, c'est leur histoire autant que la sienne.
