Cadbury Marathon for Headspace Hobart
Donation protected
On the 8th of January I will be running the Cadbury Marathon (42.2kms) in a pledge to raise funds for headspace Hobart (Lead Agency, The Link Youth Health Service).
I will be sharing my training journey on social media. For every km that I run, both in training and the marathon, I will be donating one dollar to the cause.
I am very passionate about addressing the gap in mental health services, specifically in Tasmania. My own personal experiences of struggling with inadequate mental health services and witnessing others going through similar challenges has inspired me to address this issue.
Recent reports indicate that Tasmania has one of the highest rates of young people requiring mental health services in Australia. Despite the increase in demands for mental health services, the funding is at an all-time low, with Tasmania being one of the lowest funded state for mental health services. This means that many people are left with no options but to suffer with the consequences of inadequate support.
Mental health organisations such as headspace help address this gap. Headspace helps facilitates accessible and free mental health services for the youth including counselling, workshops, education and support. I am also in the process of creating a mental health workshop which I hope to share with you soon. Support from organisations such as Headspace help make community events such as mental health workshops possible.
You can help make a positive difference for the Tasmanian youth by donating on the Gofundme link or sharing my post. Your contribution will help save and improve lives, a gift that is priceless.
