Help Us Reunite and Resettle a Brave Family Seeking a New Beginning
We are a group of dedicated sponsors committed to helping a courageous refugee family resettle in the United States through Welcome Corps. This family has faced immense challenges and dangers, and with your support, we can provide them with a chance for a safe and hopeful future.
About the Family: The family we are sponsoring consists of six members who have been displaced and are currently in Tajikistan. This includes:
- One brother and two sisters.
- One sister is married and has two children.
The family members are currently safe in Tajikistan, and the children are attending school; however, there is no work available for them, and they are relying on their family members in Blacksburg, Virginia, for financial support. These family members are newly resettled here and are working hard to send what they can, but, as you might imagine, their means are very limited.
Their Story: This family’s journey is one of resilience and bravery. In Afghanistan, the sister was part of the Female Tactical Platoon, working directly with the American military against the Taliban. She and her brother came to the U.S. in 2021 and were granted asylum in 2023. Their mother was brought to the US as a refugee by the U.S. State Department in 2023. Now, we aim to bring the rest of the family to safety and stability in the US.
Our Goal: We are raising funds to support the resettlement process for this family through Welcome Corps. The funds will cover essential needs such as housing, food, clothing, medical care, and other critical services to help them integrate and thrive in their new community. The resettlement process will be long, costly and arduous and your support will make a significant difference during this time.
