Cailyn, Hunter and Kinzlee

Hey, I’m Cailyn. I normally wouldn’t do this, however, my family and I are at a crossroads and have really hit a spot where we don’t know what to do.

As many of you probably know, last Sunday (12/17) there was really bad rain and a lot of places flooded pretty badly. Unfortunately, while the kids and I were leaving the grocery store to go home, we went through a very deep spot of water that I was unable to see. By the time we got into the water, it was already too deep to be able to stop and back up and/or turn around, so I had to keep going through it and, well to make a long story shorter- my car was flooded and will have to have a new motor to fix it. Unfortunately, I only have liability insurance on my car, simply because I couldn’t afford full coverage and the car was paid off. Now, my family and I are in a bad position and don’t know where to go from here. I am a single mom to two amazing kids - Hunter (8) & Kinzlee (7), and that car is the only means of transportation we had. I work full time, but I barely make enough to get us by as it is. I am currently driving one of my grandparents vehicles, but it is a big SUV and I am having a hard time affording the gas in it. Not to mention, driving it is only a temporary solution.

i know that in this economy, we are ALL struggling. And I also know that some thoughts can go sideways when people see my name on a gofundme (which is why I haven’t wanted to create one, but I’ve had some family encourage me to do so), so I’m not expect much, if anything to come from this. But every single dollar counts, and would be a huge help for myself, my grandparents (who are trying to help me in every way they can), and my family.
