Cait and her family

Donation protected
  • As some of you know, Cait has kidney disease and has been on dialysis since November 2022. She was accepted onto the kidney transplant list in early 2023 and her sister, Taryn, has generously offered to donate a kidney and we are hoping to move forward with the transplant surgery in the near future. We are now asking for donations to cover the extremely high costs involved in a kidney transplant procedure.
  • Although Cait has had, and managed, kidney disease for years as a complication of Type-1 Diabetes, her situation worsens rapidly during her pregnancy with our daughter, Olivia. At 31 weeks, Cait was life-flighted to UPMC Harrisburg due to pre-eclampsia and risk of acute kidney failure. The following morning, our daughter was born and spent the next two months in the NICU. We are beyond fortunate and overjoyed that Olivia is now a thriving 20-month old with lots of attitude and energy! However, Cait’s kidneys never fully recovered, leading to her beginning dialysis in late 2022. Dialysis, however, is not a long-term solution, and a kidney transplant is necessary.
  • Anyone who knows Cait knows that she would do anything to help other people. In her career, she has worked with individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities, has helped people who are housing insecure, and many other types of support as a basic needs case manager. Outside of work, she always brings a selfless approach to help friends and loved ones who need support. As much as we believe in helping others, it is more difficult for us to ask for help ourselves. I think many of you can understand that sentiment! But we need your help and support now to help us complete this life-saving procedure.
  • The average cost of a kidney transplant can run over $400,000. Although we have insurance that will cover most of the medical cost of the surgery, there are many additional expenses including travel and lodging, child and dog care while we are away, lost wages from missing work, post-op care and medications, and more. Your donation, no matter the amount, will help us reach our goal to help cover the incredibly high cost of a kidney transplant. We truly appreciate any and all donations to help us through this difficult situation. We love you all!
