Caitríona’s fight with Cancer

This page has been set up at the wishes of many of Cat’s family and friends to support her through her journey fighting Cancer.

Caitríona has been diagnosed with breast cancer, having a stage 3 tumour which is the most aggressive in her type, which has also spread to the lymph nodes. She will need chemo, surgery for a mastectomy and radiotherapy.

Turns out, alongside all the inevitable that comes with cancer, it also doesn’t come cheap.

With being in Australia Cat doesn’t have the privilege of the NHS. Treatment costs, travel to and from appointments, the wig alone is onwards of £1000, counselling, the list really is endless. Cat won’t be able to work full time while receiving treatment, and you can imagine the stress of this battle alone can be tiring and difficult, also dealing with all the physical and mental side effects of the treatment, without adding financial worry into the mix.

Caitríona has agreed to allow this page to go ahead as many people made her aware they wanted to help and support her - she appreciates this in whatever form from a simple message or those who want to help by contributing money.

At 30, recently moving to Australia to start life as a doctor down under, none of us could have imagined this was set out ahead for Cat. Being over the other side of the world, it’s so hard to be able to do anything to help, so we hope this will ease at least some of her worry.

But Caitríona is a fighter, headstrong and determined and with all of us behind her, we will help her get through this.
