Hurricane Ian I’m headed back to Fl. Sher Alloway

Hello friends, family, neighbors, and friends of friends!
*****

*****
Many of you know me from 3 decades of Red Cross volunteer service including 20+ with Disaster Services
or facilitating Coshocton County Safety Town and Learn to Swim lessons along with Lifeguard classes.
Others may know me from 30+ years of working with dog rescue groups.
*****

I’ll be volunteering with the Cajun Navy this time.
I will be deployed to the West coast of Florida.
*****

You may remember, Teresa Olinger and I deployed to Florida for Hurricane Irma disaster relief. That three week trip was spent rescuing everything from a wild herd of mustang horses to dogs & cats.
*****
During that trip I was introduced to the Cajun Navy.
I’m not easily impressed!!!
But if you don’t know who this group is please look them up.
They are an impressive seasoned group of disaster responders based out of Louisiana. They are one of just a couple of groups that are vetted enough to be welcomed into any state when there is a disaster.
They have earned that respect.
*****
In Governor DeSantis first couple of updates he said he was glad that the Cajun Navy was staged and ready to help!

*****

I can’t wait to let all of you know how your donations are making a difference and allowing me to represent you in Florida for these families that need our help.
*****

I will keep everyone posted as much as I can on this “go fund me” page.
I am allowed to post pictures and give updates.
*****

This has been dubbed the “500 year flood event”
Millions of people were without electric. Bo safe water.
Families have lost everything and many have nowhere to go.
This was such a huge monster of a storm. It has devastated and forever changed many lives.
****

I am truly humbled to be able to help in any modest way.
*****

So again, I thank you for your donations, your faith in me to make a difference and your prayers.
*****

Please share this page with your friends, families, neighbors.
This is everyone’s chance to make a difference for these families in Florida.
I know everyone’s heart is aching just like mine for these families.
*****
At this time I’ll only be driving my SUV.
I’ve been told “be prepared because that’s where you’re going to sleep!”
I’m taking a trailer full of supplies and donations.
*****

The group has said that right now they can use donations of:
water, food, diapers, wipes, hygiene products, bug repellent, tarps, batteries. A mini generator or power bank would be helpful to help Volunteers keep their phones etc charged. I’m not even sure what these are, but it sounds like a good thing to have. Any one have one or suggest a good one?

*****
*** Our Coshocton Swim Lesson program has approx. 30 orange life vests that we no longer use…I’ll be taking them.*****

If anyone wants to contact me directly, most of you have my number, as it’s against gofundme policy to post it.

Thank you again and God bless you,

Sher
The will of God will not take you where the grace of God will not protect you

GoFundMe has requested that everyone be very clear where/what $$ donations are going to be spent on, especially with fundraisers focused on Hurricane Ian.
****
**** The 1st few days I’ll spend
buying supplies for donations After that I’ll have to update you on this page.

Any money left over when I leave will be donated to Cajun Navy.
*****I received permission from the Vetting group at Cajun Navy to raise funds.
