Cal Football Players Family- The Jemtegaard's
Donation protected
The father of one of our Cal football student-athletes tragically lost his life Saturday 4/22 to a random act of gun violence. Shawn Jemtegaard was the sole provider for his family and leaves behind his wife Chelsea and 6 children (5 of which are still at home ranging in age from 3-13 years). All funds raised will support the beneficiary, Chelsea Jemtegaard, ensuring she can manage daily living expenses for herself and her six children. We hope through this fundraising effort, as a community, we can raise sufficient funds to support the family's multi-year needs.
Cal family and friends, please rally around Offensive Lineman #65, Dylan Jemtegaard, and support this fundraiser at any level possible. Dylan is presently a redshirt sophomore studying to be a mechanical engineer. PLEASE SEE BELOW FROM DYLAN'S UNCLE
Every dollar donated makes an impact. Go Bears!
Dear Friends,
My name is Andrew West and I am the brother of Chelsea Jemtegaard. I am writing to express our heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support we have received from our extended UC Berkeley family during this difficult time. Losing Shawn has been an unimaginable tragedy for us all, and we are grateful for the outpouring of love and compassion that has come our way.
As many of you know, Shawn was a devoted father to six children, five of whom are still at home, ranging in age from 3 to 13 years. He took great pride in his son Dylan's academic and athletic achievements and always made time for his family, even helping to coach football at Yelm High School, despite working long hours to provide for them, as the sole provider for the family. Dylan is now a passionate student and football player at UC Berkeley, pursuing his dreams in the Engineering program with the support of a full scholarship. We are committed to supporting him in any way possible. Our goal is to ensure that he can focus on his studies and football career without worrying about his family's financial situation.
As a family, we have been overwhelmed by the support we have received from our community, including your generous donations. The financial need for a family this large is immense, with expenses like rent, food, transportation for 7, and other necessities adding up to a substantial amount each month. Our family, friends, and I are committed to ensuring that Shawn's children are well taken care of, but the need is above and beyond what we can provide to give Chelsea the time and resources to heal and focus on her family.
I want to emphasize that your donations are going to the sweetest, most loving children. They may not fully understand the magnitude of their loss, but they loved their father dearly, and his absence has left a profound void in their lives. His youngest son even wished for a phone to talk to their dad in heaven saying, “Nana, wouldn’t it be cool if I had a special phone where I could call my Dad in heaven and say hi and see how he is doing?”
Once again, I want to express our deepest gratitude for your support, your kindness, and your love. Your contributions have made a real difference in our lives, and we are forever grateful.
With love and appreciation,
Andrew West
