Cal Prep Men's Soccer Team

Hello Everyone,

I am Cesar Tamayo, the head coach of the Cal Prep men’s high school soccer team (junior varsity and varsity). Cal Prep's soccer team comes from a small but well-built community in Richmond, California. Our program provides many benefits for our students. For example, our program contributes to a safe space where students can develop their communication, decision-making, and soccer skills while being in a competitive environment and potentially playing at the next level (college). Our soccer teams also boost school spirit and pride across the school.

The fundraiser's purpose is to raise money for equipment, sports uniforms, and field equipment. Playing sports is increasingly expensive. NBC Nightly News recently aired a report stating that “kids are in or they are out” due to the financial demands of sports participation (https://www.nbcnews.com/nightly-news/video/some-are-spending-hundreds-or-thousands-to-keep-their-kids-in-youth-sports-148683333943). We want to ensure that every student-athlete can benefit from this program, regardless of their family’s financial situation.

Equipment includes:

- Practice/warm-up t-shirts and sweater

- Game uniforms

- Safety equipment (1st aid)

- Soccer balls

- Goalkeeper equipment

- Film equipment

- Updates to our facilities
