Anyone who knows Father Ben knows that he has a smile that lights up a room, he has a genuine warmth & kindness that inspires you to be a good person. His love of life and people radiates from him from the instant you meet him. His desire to help and support others is second to none. I have had the extreme honor and pleasure to have had him a part of the parish I belong to, St. Francis of Assisi in Mount Kisco. Father Ben was recently re-assigned to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Girls Senior High School, an all girls school located in Hansua in the Techiman Ghana, Africa where he oversees 625 high school girls in every facet of their life - Academically, spiritually, professionally, emotionally and recreational. The diocese realized his capabilities and enthusiasm to make a difference and has re-assigned him to a place that needs him. He does get to visit us from time to time and was just here for the past couple of weeks filling in for a fellow priest who was vacationing. During this time I was able to help him obtain much needed soccer jerseys for a soccer team he is also currently in charge of. Because of the overwhelming generosity of our community and the contacts and relationships made with local merchants, we were able to obtain 26 soccer jerseys and with the generous and EXCEPTIONAL spirit of Rob Bernstein of Mount Kisco Sports he was willing to do all the decal work! He created the school logo (we got off the internet) numbered all 26 Jerseys and finished them all in time for his return back to Ghana! Just WOW! I couldn’t be more appreciative and Father Ben was equally thrilled! I am SO anxious to see pictures! What an incredible feel good moment! Father Ben will be returning in June and spending the summer at St. Francis!
Our children are so very fortunate to not have to do without. Most need nothing, have most and want all. There are so many kids that need and want items that our children take for granted everyday and have readily available simply by opening a drawer. Pens, pencils, paper ect. These kids wishes are for Calculators.
I have been asked to help Father Ben raise money to buy some much needed supplies for the school he is currently doing his appointment at. Specifically the calculators. These will make a HUGE impact on their learning and success!! The goal is to gift one calculator to each student. This will be MONUMENTAL!
The calculators we intend to purchase are the Casio Scientific calculators model FX991ESPlus- they range between $17-$20 and are needed for both math and science. They have a dual power source, the primary being a built-in solar power cell that keeps it running for hours without any need for batteries which is so important.
PLEASE be a part of this! It’s a cause that is very near and dear to my heart... helping the kids.
Thank You. Sharon
