Calee Jean’s Radiation Treatment for Myxosarcoma

My name is Missy, & that’s one of the loves of my life, Calee Jean. She is 4 years old & I’m so lucky to be her mama. She was recently diagnosed with myxosarcoma, which is cancer of the vertebrae (L1 & L2). It literally started as a small one inch in diameter bump on her back that came out of nowhere. I immediately went to the vet and heard the words no one wants to hear- cancer.

Because of the location, surgery isn’t an option, because it would more than likely result in her becoming paralyzed since it’s so close to the spinal cord.

After A LOT of consideration & weighing my options, (but quickly to avoid spread) as well as a CT scan to confirm that it hadn’t spread & I could go this route, I decided to go with stereotactic radiation. She will receive 3 high doses of radiation treatments, with the heaviest dose at the beginning of treatment (7/31/23).

This option isn’t a cure, unfortunatelyuuuu, since it is a cancer of the bone, but it has the highest chance of giving us more time with her.

Calee is an absolute gem. I rescued her in 2020 from One Tail at Time. Her & brother Kent became immediate best friends. Prior to becoming a part of our family she had a tough time, but she has blossomed into a loving angel who loves belly rubs, getting her makeup done by her mama, snuggling her brother Kent, and loving her sister Mack. She loves her dad, Grammi’s rubs, and her mama. Anything that I can do, without making her suffer, I plan to do. I wish I didn’t have to ask, but even with working 2 jobs, this is out of the realm of what I can afford, which will be anywhere from $10-12,000.l with additional follow ups. The money raised here will go to her stereotactic radiation, all her appointments, CT scan, additional follow-ups (any validation you need of these costs, I can provide!)
