Calgary Community Fridge

Calgary Community Fridge is a mutual aid project aimed at addressing food equity in Calgary by helping those facing financial insecurity access free, fresh and healthy food 24/7.
Many Calgarians face food insecurities. AHS studies show that already 1 in every 10 households in our province is food insecure (Nardocci et al., 2019). With COVID-19 and an ongoing recession, we're more concerned than ever for our community's health and well-being.
Our goal for this fundraiser is to have the money to set up and maintain clean, safe, stocked and accessible fridges and pantry space for those who need fresh food. Your donation will go towards: purchasing additional fridges and freezers for other locations, pantry and weathering shed building materials (because winter), helping us purchase food and cleaning supplies as we need them, utility and maintenance costs.
The first fridge will be located in Crescent Heights at 902 Centre Street N. A place where our organizers either live or have connections in, so we can properly maintain these spaces and partner with members of our community in meaningful ways. We hope this project can inspire and create a framework for others looking to develop fridges in other areas of the city.
Thank you for reading, caring and supporting Calgary Community Fridge!
