CALICO Eagle Project
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Nolan from Troop 503.
Currently, I am the Senior Patrol Leader of Troop 503 and hold the rank of Life Scout. I have been involved in Scouting weekly for about seven years, so I am looking forward to achieving the Eagle rank. To complete the rank of Eagle--the pinnacle of Scouting--I am required to plan, develop, and give leadership to others in a service project helpful to any religious institution, any school, or any community.
The respective organization I chose is the Child Abuse, Listening, Interviewing and Coordination Center in San Leandro, or simply CALICO. CALICO is an organization that aims to bring justice and healing for abused children by bringing together law enforcement officers, child welfare workers, and prosecutors to investigate abuse allegations and elicit testimony from the children themselves.
My goal is to replace two old planter boxes in the front of the building that have since rotted away and have created a nuisance for the CALICO’s staff. I will deconstruct them and make new, self-sustaining boxes. The boxes will be adapted to the environment, including drought-tolerant geraniums and a self-watering cycle. The boxes will bring color and life to the building, bringing a sense of relief to a potentially difficult experience. All help is appreciated greatly.
All excess funds and materials will go to the beneficiary, CALICO.
Thank you,
Nolan Quiroz
