Callander Primary Playground Upgrade

Hello. My name is Emma. I am a parent of two boys who attand Callander Primary, in Callander. I have lived and worked within the community for 15 years.

The Project:

I am working with a small group of parent volunteers and the school PTA to give our children's school playground a very much needed revamp and upgrade. Our school is a wonderful school community and our teachers and helpers do a fantastic job. However, the playgrounds are currently dull, uninspiring, mushy and broken and we feel they need an upgrade to make them look happy again! With the plans for a new school to be built within coming years, there is no money available to upgrade the play spaces.

We think that the children attending the current school deserve to have a play space which is fit for use and welcoming.

What's been done so far?

The PTA has been working tirelessly post covid to get money back in the pot, and has managed to raise enough money via various fundraising events to cover the cost of things like paint, sand, new equipment, and other much needed resources. These costs come to approximately £2000. This will revamp the gated playground and our garden playground which is mostly used by the Autism Provision. The extra cost of the bark to make the back area of the gated playground safe for climbing frames (and not an unusable mushy muddy mess) comes to approximately £3000!

What's the money for?

I would like to help raise the money to buy the bark so that we can make a real impact over the school holidays, so that our children can return to an inspiring, authentic playground space that they deserve!

We already have local people donating their time to dig out the old compacted bark and sort the ground so it drains better.

I am calling on all local businesses, parents and family members, friends and anyone else who can help make a difference to our school and nursery children's daily play space, to donate as much or as little as they would like so that we can make this project happen!
