September 30, 2023 : UPDATE FROM BROOKE

Callie is out of the PICU & back in a regular room!!!

Great news this morning
Completely off oxygen and her stats are good which means no more monitors
Antibiotics are now able to be given orally, so no more IV either!
We were given the okay to take a chest tube suction “holiday”, so we can get her out of bed for a while.
We’re going to have another chest X-ray tomorrow morning and if it comes back clear we may be able to remove the chest tube… which is the last piece of the puzzle to go HOME.
Again… thank you for the prayers, donations, gifts, e-cards… just everything. We are so, so grateful.

September 28, 2023 : UPDATE FROM BROOKE

Callie got the visitor she’s been so patiently waiting for… SISSY!
Callie had a good night last night. Fever under control and she slept decently.
This morning’s X-ray showed a much better improvement than yesterday’s and chest tube is still producing a ton of output. We were able to get off one of the antibiotics and hopefully another soon. She’s now able to drink clear liquids and HOPEFULLY eat soon. Her oxygen was weaned to 4 liters from 15 overnight

Keep the prayers coming but we are moving in the right direction! Thank you all so much for your overwhelming support

Hi, my name is Marissa DeMichelis. I am starting this in hopes to raise money to help my best friend, Brooke Franks, her husband Buddy and their two beautiful young girls during a very difficult time. Last week, their oldest daughter Callie, who is only 5 years old, was admitted to the hospital. She had been running high fevers, and not feeling herself. After running tests and scans, it was determined that Callie has double pneumonia, fluid in her lungs, and ultimately had to have a chest tube placed to try and drain the infection in her little lungs. She is currently on high flow oxygen, and is not able to take anything by mouth until they are able to decrease it. They are also currently running additional tests to determine where the infection originated in hopes to better treat her.

Brooke and Buddy are off of work to be there for their sweet girl, with no idea how long she will be hospitalized. They both would do anything, for anyone - and do not want to ask for help. They are both someone that would give you the shirt off of their backs without question. If you would consider a donation, it will be SO greatly appreciated and help out tremendously. They live over an hour from the hospital where Callie is admitted. The cost of gas from traveling back and forth, food while they are there, providing for their youngest who is at home with family, and other expenses add up very quickly when you have a child in the hospital.

If you cannot donate right now, please share this with your friends. Callie could also use everyone's prayers and well wishes.

Thank you in advance, the Franks family appreciates your help, kindness, and generosity.
