Callie Hamaker-Bishop

Callie, was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) on 2/8/17. We quickly found that there are many types of breast cancers. TNBC happens to be very aggressive, strikes mostly younger women, and there is no targeted treatment for it, unlike other breast cancer sub-types. On a positive note her cancer was found early through a routine checkup. She found an amazing oncologist, Dr. Block, and she started her treatment right away. She is very confident that the regimen Callie is on is working! The chemotherapy regimen is called ACT, consisting of 4 rounds of adriamycin/cytoxin and 12 rounds of taxol. Her last step will be surgery. She just finished up round 4 of A/C (a.k.a. red devil) last week.
Callie is handling this with such strength and grace. I am in complete awe of my beautiful, brave sister. She has an amazing support system in our family, her co-workers, and our community.
