Calling all Chris Akkerman Hope Warriors

Putting this into writing is difficult. The reality of the situation becomes all too real when it’s written out in front of you. On January 27th, our dear friend, Chris Akkerman, was rushed to the Ben Taub hospital feeling out of place with difficulty getting his words out, which came out of nowhere.

After searching for answers, the unthinkable was discovered: Chris Akkerman, a healthy 44-year-old, was diagnosed with Brain Cancer. Doctors say he has a high-grade glioma that is rapidly progressing. The biopsy uncovered a tumor in his frontal lobe that is too large for surgery; it covers his brain's right and left sides. He will start radiation therapy and chemotherapy as soon as his gold card becomes effective.

What Chris and the whole family are going through is heartbreaking, but Chris is ready to fight, and we will do everything possible to beat this damn thing.

While Chris is NOT insured, treatment will cause severe financial stress on the family, and any donation amount will make a world of difference financially and mentally.
