Calogero's WIN versus Hurricane Ian !!!

For over two years, me and my BEST buddy Mike have been planning a golf trip with other friends that we had graduated with from Haddon Heights High in 1979. So I was extremely bummed out when Mike's flight from Ft Myers was canceled because of Hurricane Ian, and as a result, Slim was not going to be able to join us on our trip that we were so much looking forward to.

All that sadness turned to fear when I spoke to Mike to see how he made out during the storm. Mike described a harrowing experience that he and Caroline went through. Not knowing where the flood waters could be coming from since they lived nowhere near a large body of water, they were suddenly faced with rapidly rising flood waters in their house that had submerged their car in less than five minutes.. They collected some belongings and their 85-pound dog and started a trek that turned into a three mile journey to a shelter, where they are now safe. At times they were in powerful moving water up to their necks. Switching turns on who carried their beloved furry friend. Mike said it was the most surreal moment of his life and that he felt he was in a movie. There were numerous parts of their trip where Mike and Caroline saw tragedy of epic proportions. He kept telling Caroline, "this is not the day we are going to die."

When they can return to their home, Mike is pretty confident that they have lost everything they own. While insurance will be able to replace most items. The insurance claim process can be lengthy and frustrating. I hope to give them a little cushion of cash to help bridge that gap. Also, if you have any physical goods, especially clothing, I will be aslo planning a time and place for the collection of items to get to them as quickly as possible.
