Calvin Halford ALS Diagnosis Support
Donation protected
Calvin Halford has likely spent more of his life on the back of a horse, than off. He's said he was riding horses before he could walk, and some of his earliest memories are doing farm work on the back of a horse. He has started, trained, rehabbed, rescued, taken in, loved, and worked with thousands of horses all over this great land...and dogs, cats, possums, and humans, too.
Calvin recently received a devastating ALS / Lou Gehrig's diagnosis. Even though he's experiencing some of the hardship this debilitating disease brings, he's still getting up way before the sun every day, continuing to work with horses, and keeping things going on the farm. But, I think even he'd tell you, it's not easy, and it's getting harder...
Over the years Calvin has helped hundreds, maybe thousands, of troubled and endangered horses. He has taken in horses that wouldn’t have made it without him. Horses that were traumatized, broken, sick, and some destined for one of the worst fates imaginable. In the years that I have known Calvin, I have witnessed countless acts of kindness and selflessness; I’ve seen many horses and their humans benefit from a willingness to do for others and to give back in many ways.
Of course, none of us is perfect, but humility and dedication to striving to live a life in alignment with God’s purpose are what keep Calvin getting up every day and continuing to do all he can for horses and their humans.
Donations will go towards feeding the horses in Calvin’s care + general medical and life expenses. Arrangements can also be made for hay and/or supplies to be delivered directly to the farm – where you’ll likely enjoy lots of whinnies and nickers, too!
Winter is here, and the need is great. Please consider a donation, it will be so greatly appreciated by both humans and horses. Thank you!
