Calvin Montero Family Support

Our friend, brother and fellow veteran Calvin Montero was rushed to the ER on August 24 after his wife Aime found him at home lethargic and not quite himself.  Later that day he was hospitalized and diagnosed with a brain tumor. Initially he was not fully conscious and unable to interact but over the next 2 days he became more alert and was able to even joke around with Aime.  On August 27, Calvin underwent a craniotomy (brain surgery). The tumor was very large and invasive so the surgeon was able to remove some but not all of it.  His family is waiting to get results on the specific type of tumor it is, but the doctor did report back saying that it was indeed malignant (cancerous). Calvin is currently in the ICU at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple, TX.  He is going to be sedated for the next day or so to help with the swelling and to facilitate his recovery. 

There are still many unknowns at this point. Early signs indicate that it is a Stage 3 Glioma. Not what Aime wanted to hear but she is hopeful that this could change once the pathology report comes back early next week. You can get updates on his condition by visiting the following website:
