Help Cam Spaulding rebuild after the Oak Fire
Donation protected
This is Cam’s sister, Shayne Spaulding, asking those who can contribute to help Cam rebuild following the Oak Fire, which destroyed almost everything he created over the past few years. The fire started very close to his land and swept through in a blink of an eye.
Cam moved to Buckingham Mountain Rd to be part of a community of hard-working friends who help one another build their homes and tend the land. There was also the dream of creating an educational facility where people could come to learn about and appreciate the natural world just minutes from Yosemite National Park. Sharing meals and playing music in the holler were a common occurrence on this land. The whole community has been affected and the shared dream of Buckingham has drastically changed.
I am asking for your donations to assist Cam in reviving this dream. Your contribution will help replace and rebuild critical infrastructure for rural living: a water system including water storage tanks and pipes, a new solar system, and necessary tools to replace those Cam had acquired over a lifetime. The fire also vaporized the airstream Cam refurbished and the kitchen structure that was hand milled from the land. Donations will help him create a new humble dwelling in Mariposa or elsewhere depending on how livable the land is.
We were lucky enough to visit Cam in April and to see all that he created to realize the shared dream of an education center. Cam will appreciate anything you do to help rebuild and start again.
Photos post-fire; only one building survived, the sauna (last photo), an inspiration for what could be created again.
