Christine’s story 

Having some discomfort and generally just not feeling like herself, Christine made an appointment to see her doctor in May 2018.  Her doctor listened and immediately began to order some tests.  Through testing it was discovered there was a mass on her ovary.  Things quickly developed and surgery was scheduled.  Doctors were optimistic that this mass could easily be removed, and life would continue as normal for Christine and her husband George and their three beautiful girls, Kaitlyn (9), Emily (8) and Natalie (4).  Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. One year later, May 2019 and Christine is facing the fight of her life. Christine has been diagnosed with a VERY rare ovarian germ cell cancer.    

Christine has been through 4 surgeries, 5 CT scans, 2 MRI’s, 1 PET scan, countless blood work and three cycles of intensive chemotherapy.   March 2019, Christine was excited to return to her beloved students at Somers Intermediate School but was told the unimaginable...cancer was back and had spread.  Sloane-Kettering told Christine that she was outside of their expertise and referred her to Dana-Farber.  

Currently, Christine is about to begin an even more intensive chemotherapy at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston Massachusetts which will require extensive travel and displacement from her loving family. Christine is going to fight this battle not only for herself but for her three beautiful daughters and her devoted husband George (5th grade Somers Intermediate School teacher).
    
Christine has a difficult fight ahead and will need all the support we can give.  We are hoping to provide some financial support for Christine, George and their girls to help alleviate the stress of mounting medical bills, travel expenses and hardships that will arise.   

In Christine’s own words, “Life is precious, and I don’t intend to give up now.  I’ve got three little girls watching me daily and I will continue to show them that I am a fighter." 



The Camarra Family has been overwhelmed by all the love, meals and prayers that have been pouring in over the last year. Unfortunately, more than that is needed now.   Please find it in your hearts to be as generous as possible.
