On Tuesday, July 19, Cameron had just gotten home from working the night shift when he and his new wife decided to go longboarding(skateboarding) to relax before getting some sleep. While longboarding, Cameron lost control going down a hill and crashed. He was instantly knocked out. He was transported to the local hospital, and the medical team discovered his injuries were too severe to be treated locally. Cameron was then transported by ambulance to MercyOne in Des Moines.
Through numerous CT scans it was discovered he had two brain bleeds, bilateral forehead fractures, both eardrums were ruptured, and fractures on the right side of his head that extend into the inner ear.
Cameron spent four days in ICU and was then transferred to the traumatic brain injury floor. He has since been discharged and is now home beginning the healing process. Cameron requires 24 /7 care and is not allowed to be alone. He currently has short-term memory loss, hearing difficulties, and severe head pain. It is still too early to know the full effects of the accident, and symptoms continue to show every day.
Due to his injuries and the requirement of 24/7 care, Cameron's wife, Hailee, a travel nurse, is also unable to work as she is his caregiver.
Cameron and Hailee are the types of people that would drop anything they are doing if somebody told them they needed help. Well now it is OUR TURN TO HELP THEM.
Medical bills and costs of just living are mounting, and neither one can work.
Please help Cameron and Hailee with the long road of medical expenses, physical therapy, and the challenges they will face. Cameron and Hailee are such extraordinary people. To have to go through this so early in life/marriage...well, let's just help them out so money isn't yet another difficulty they will have to face.
