Camino for Kids, supporting Nepalese children
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Paola Mendez.
I am passionate about early intervention in childhood and education. I work supporting families with young children to get the best experience in education before reaching school. It is so rewarding to be part of their path and receive their grateful smiles when they leave the centre where I work in Queanbeyan, NSW, Australia.
Last year I crossed paths with Australian woman Trish Ryan, and learned about the Meg’s Children Nepal. I discovered Trish’s personal history and how she started the foundation almost 20 years ago to support children in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Meg’s Children Nepal is an inspirational foundation looking to help children whose families are unable to provide minimum conditions, to walk the path in life, or even education. The foundation allocates 95% of its funds to cover children's needs: a safe place to live, clothing, food AND education.
I was touched by the stories of some of the children back in those years, when Meg’s Children Nepal began in 2004. I met Radhika, one of those children who because of the support received by Meg’s Children in Nepal was able to graduate from business studies in Melbourne.
Inspired by Trish and Radhika’s stories, I would like to be part of the adventure, by sharing another adventure...
In April-May 2024, I walked the “Camino” in Spain (The Way of Saint James), and during my walk I shared this campaing to collect funds for the kids from Meg’s Children Nepal. Every step counted, and with your support I walked 779 kilometres, and reached $5,100 AU dollars.
I walked from Saint Jean Pied de Port (France) to Santiago de Compostela Spain, and it was a incredible journey sharing love, lessons, smiles, stories, friendship and simply, for being there on the Way.
Thank you for your generosity towards the children like Radhika, and for Trish's vision and the Meg's Children Nepal volunteers with the incredible work they do for those children.
Thank you for the opportunity of helping them and for the privilege of sharing their stories.
