Camino kms in memory of Keelan
Donation protected
10 yrs ago on the 2nd March 2013 I lost "our beautiful boy" my son in a fatal road traffic collision, he had just passed his driving test on my birthday - 1st February, a great birthday present! little did I know that 4 weeks later he would be dead.
Keelan loved life! He was in his final year of A levels and was planning a future in Engineering, he loved playing gaelic for his school team, St Mary's, Limavady, his local teams St Matthews Drumsurn and St patricks, and indeed the Derry development squad. He was an avid xbox player and loved nothing better than catching up with his friends via a game, with his headset on to drown out his mammy telling him to keep the noise down!
He had a part time job in the Classic restaurant in Limavady which he loved and it gave him so much confidence.... He had such a bright future ahead.
It's been the most difficult 10 yrs of my life and yet it has has shown me I am strong even in my weakest moments, I have helped set up a charity in 2017 name Life After, specifically supporting anyone affected by a fatal road traffic collision.
It is supporting almost 200 families right across Northern Ireland and that number is growing constantly.
On the 8th April I have decided to travel to Spain and walk 120 kms of the Camino Frances, from Sarria to Santiago in memory of Keelan, and to raise money for Life After to help them continue the amazing work they do in delivering counselling, peer support, group support, family outings, remberance services and education programmes, etc, giving others coping mechanisms and hope that they too can build a life after loss.
Could I ask for your help, in memory of Keelan to raise funds for this amazing charity that I know my son would be very proud of his mammy being part of, every penny will go towards helping others who unfortunately find themselves having to come to terms with their traumatic loss of their love one.
A huge thank you in advance,
Debbie
