Camp Belwood's Breaking Ground Initiative

Since 1946, Belwood Lodge & Camp has been dedicated to meeting the summer recreational needs of children, youth and adults with developmental disabilities. Our programs are designed to provide campers and lodgers with exceptional experiences while ensuring their safety and a positive summer holiday experience and we provide care givers a chance to enjoy a well deserved rest. We are a  registered non-profit organization and rely entirely on registration fees, grants, and donations from people like you to continue operating.

In the past we've fundraised for exciting additions to our camp such as new  accessible cabins, a renovated common room, and most recently, a beautiful new (fully accessible!) pool and shower area! This year we're asking for your help to complete a major infrastructure project - a new septic system! Well it may not be the most glamorous project, the Ministry of the Environment  is requiring us to make this investment to meet environmental standards and to keep Camp Belwood operational. A new septic system will help to keep our lodgers and staff healthy and, of course, we're happy to continue to be responsible and environmentally-friendly members of the Belwood Lake community.

This project is expected to cost at least $250,000.  Although the camp's management has been putting funds aside in anticipation of this project, the Ministry’s new standards have more than doubled the original projected cost. Our current objective is to raise $30,000 through community donations, with the remaining funding coming from grants from private organizations and companies, as well as the Ontario Trillium Foundation. That is why we're asking you to please donate to Camp Belwood's Breaking Ground Initiative. We understand that many people are facing significant challenges due to the current pandemic, and may not be in a position to donate. If that is the case, simply sharing our cause with friends would also be greatly appreciated.

Your donations will also go towards other ongoing camp projects, including making more accessible pathways, maintenance repairs, and program supplies. Belwood is such a fun, welcoming and enriching experience that our lodgers (and staff!) look forward to returning to year after year. Each and every dollar you donate will help to ensure that this will continue to be the case for many years to come!

Donations can also be made via PayPal, credit card, or cheque (charitable tax receipts will be issued for donations of $20 or over). For more information, please visit https://www.belwoodlodgeandcamp.com/support-us
